Have you woken up in the middle of the night to scratching sounds above your ceiling? Are your pets suddenly sniffing at the walls? Have droppings mysteriously appeared in your garage? There might be some critters moving in. It’s important to figure out how. Naturally, once you identify how they’re getting in, the pests would need to be removed prior to any repair work being completed, so they don’t get sealed into your home!
A couple of years ago, I was driving away from visiting my brother when I saw some movement on his neighbor’s roof. Looking closer, I realized there was a raccoon ambling across the roof and straight into the side of their dormer! I called my brother so he could let his neighbor know about their house guest. It was a good thing I did because they hadn’t discovered it yet.
If you suspect animal intrusion in your home, make sure to check the exterior of your home for evidence. Shingles and decking may have been chewed through by a squirrel. Soffit could have been clawed away by a raccoon. Fascia might be pecked into by a bird. You might have a tree that needs branches trimmed back to curb easy access. Entry points even as small as a coin could allow intrusion, and it’s crucial to find where and get them fixed. Your local critter control company will be able to assist you in removal.
